For as long as any Eastern Kentucky resident can remember, US 23 was the lifeline out of this region.  It was the pathway to a better job and a more prosperous way of life.  Eastern Kentuckians like Loretta Lynn and Dwight Yoakam took their talents away from here and found success.   Many more unnamed individuals took their strict work ethic and sense of loyalty away to earn a living in steel mills and car factories.  Today, however, the metropolitan areas of the North offer fewer job opportunities, and the people are coming back home.  Kentucky is seeing a rebirth.  Mothers and fathers are coming back to raise their children, and artisans and craftsmen are coming back to regain their perspective. Many of us, of course, never left.
We here at US 23. Com are proud to provide the global world a glimpse into our area of the state.  It is our objective to inform, educate, and enlighten through informative and entertaining articles.  We hope that other people who share our interests will join us here once a month to see what has caught our eye. We encourage our readers to submit stories, articles, cartoons, artwork and photographs for our perusal and possible publication. If you have any story ideas or would like to submit an article which highlights a US 23 resident, business, or issue, please send it to
[email protected].  We are excited and eager to see our area flourish as we move into the  21st century.  So, pull up a chair, look through the magazine, and give us some feedback so that we can make this a gathering point for all who wish to join us.
